The combination of hypodermic and spoon indicates heroin use. Like Evangelion, it’s been hugely influential and has spawned spinoffs and (mostly unrelated) sequels. It might be a while before we run such commemorations based on binary representations of elapsed numbers of Planck time units. Since then, I've read it 4-5 times, enjoying the book more each time I read it. Where Cyberpunk portrays the future as a Crapsack World, Post-Cyberpunk posits society will probably be about the same, just with cooler gadgets.

Generally, science fiction is set in the future, but some are set in the modern day (or even the past) but still prominently feature science and technology as a theme. McAuley's Red Dust (1993) are other noteworthy novels about Mars. It’s a great little article, well worth the read and I enjoyed Gibson’s speculations. When he wrote City Come A-Walkin' in the late 1970s, he was as far into the punk scene as you could go and still produce a coherent novel-rock musician, omnipresence in the underground scene in Portland, wildman, writer.

Tachyon is known for their canonic anthologies that redefine everything from the Victorian whimsies of Steampunk to the “lit-fi” world of Slipstream. "Sci Fi", "Scifi", and "Sci-Fi" redirect here. As a commentary, this hybrid where a society appears utopian holds secret dystopian aspects is useful in critiquing modern society, questioning the status quo and day-to-day experiences of individuals, inviting them to look beyond the obvious to see the issues infecting our world.

The boat conversation between Batou and the Major is a solid character moment, but in English, it stinks. The person does not wish to be named on the blog, but I must still express my gratitude for such an unprecedented act of kindness in this cyberpunk world that we live in. That kind of check occurs when Hugh Hoyland is shown the Main Control Room and the stars, and realizes for the first time that the ship is not the universe, that the Trip is real and not a metaphor.
